Fashion Tips to Look More Classy

You don’t need to spend a few thousand dollars on a piece of cloth to look more elegant and classy. It’s not really about the price, it’s about the material, fabric and structure of the clothing that will make or break the look. However, there are some things we can do to elevate our look even more. Here are some elegant fashion tips to look classy.

1. Get Your Clothes Tailored

The first piece of advice is to get your clothes tailored. You don’t even need to buy new clothes, work with your old ones and turn it into something else. Okay, maybe not entirely, but if you have clothes you like but they never fit quite perfect, just go to the tailor, have your measurement taken and tailor the piece. It doesn’t cost a lot and make your clothes last longer and fit better on you.

2. Invest in Quality Pieces

Forget all about the fast fashion and trends. Customize your own personal style and invest in quality pieces. These quality pieces are the timeless pieces you can wear over and over again and remain in a good shape. They may cost a bit more in the beginning but think about the cost per wear. In the long term, they will make better investment than buying new cheap trendy piece you can only use once and get worn out after a wash.

3. Pay Attention to The Fabric and Structure

We briefly mentioned it before but the fabric and material of your clothes can make or break your look. Avoid too much cheap looking synthetic materials, instead, choose materials like linen, wool, cashmere, cotton and our personal favorite, tencel and silk that are more durable.

If you do choose on a synthetic material, know that not all of them are created equals. Some polyester fiber and viscose can look high end when done correctly. Train your eyes to differentiate the high quality fabric from the cheap ones. Also, pay attention to the structure of your clothes.

4. Wear Dainty Jewelries

Dainty jewelries can be quite powerful when combined correctly. They will enhance your overall look without taking the attention away from you. Depending on your undertone, you can choose either gold or silver jewelries. Avoid anything that is too loud or eye catching all at once. They may distract the focus from your face and make you look tacky.

5. Add a Statement Piece

One of the easiest way to look classy is to add a statement piece into your outfit. This could be a piece of colorful bag against an all neutral look or it could be a lace shoe on a casual look. It’s the piece that makes your look stand out without looking overdone. It brings balance and class into your look.

6. Wear Laces or Ruffles

This tip might not be for everyone, but if you are into it, adding laces and ruffles would instantly elevate your look. Of course, you want to be careful. Not all lace are created equal. Some will make you look more aged. However, if you can find the perfect, high quality lace and ruffles, they will make you look more youthful and playful in the right way. They will also add a touch of elegance and when paired with the right pieces, you will look absolutely stunning in them.

7. Shapewear is Everything

We have mentioned it in our elegant fashion for plus size women and we will mention it again. Use shapewear. It doesn’t matter if you already have an hourglass figure, a shapewear will still enhance your look. Depending on what kind of shapewear you wear, you can create an illusion of a slender waist, firm breast or butt. Some shapewear will hide your panty lines and prevent any accident on the upper area. Figure out the kind of shapewear you need and use it.

8. Select The Right Colors

One of the thing people often overlook is how important colors is when creating a wardrobe. Ever wonder why you look so washed out when you’re wearing a certain color? Maybe because it’s the wrong tone for you. The first thing you need to do is to figure out your undertone. Then, you want to get your colors matched to your undertone and buy your clothing based on it. Having a personal stylist to do this might be something you want to consider. If not, it’s always a good idea to play around with the clothes at the store and try to find out what kind of colors works best for you if you can.

9. Change The Buttons

Being classy means paying attention to details. Sometimes, you have to go down to the very details of an outfit and change a few things. When you shop at a fast fashion store or buy a clothes on the mid end side, it may look good at first glance. However, the button may ruin it for you. The easiest way is to change the bottom. You can go to your tailor or get some new buttons at stores that look better than the ones your clothes come with.
