For some people makeup is an expression of themselves and a lot of people love to play around with makeup, create different looks, and express themselves artistically with makeup. A lot of people think that makeup should not have any rules, but like all good things in life, there are rules of applying makeup if you want to achieve a beautiful look. Makeup does require techniques and methods in order to look “flawless”. It is how it is. For your convenience, we will keep it simple. Here are some makeup tips for an elegant look;
1. Base
For the base you should wear your correct shade, it should match your skin tone perfectly. Choose a formula that matches your skin type, if you are oily, go for a more mattifying formula. On the other hand, if you are dry, choose a more hydrating base. Blend everything then set the base with a light powder. Avoid baking for the reasons we have created in our why you should avoid baking post and make sure that you blend your foundation to your neck to avoid any harsh line.
2. Brows
Brows are personal. Everyone has their own perfect eyebrow shape that flatters their faces. With this one you just want to go for a natural brow look that follows and compliments your natural brow shape, and overdoing your brows. You don’t want to create a harsh or fake looking brow.
3. Eyes
For the eyes, you want to use natural colors such as brown, beige, gold, and nude depending on your skin tone for daytime, you can go a bit heavier for the evening and use shades like gray, burgundy, and navy blue and purple for that smoky eye look. Stay away from any bright neon colors. Make sure that everything is well blended together.
Avoid putting on a thick layer of liner or too much of a wing. And stay away from fake looking long false lashes which in our humble opinion is distasteful.
Use eye looks that suits your eye shape the best and refrain from creating anything overly dramatic. Sometimes light amount of shadow, thin liner and mascara is all you need,
4. Lips
For the lips, you want to either go for a nude or red. Nude colors will go well with most looks you create and it will also compliment a lot of outfit. Of course nude lipstick would be different for different skin tone so choose one that works the best on you.

5. Cheeks
A moderate amount of bronzer and blush is perfect to create that sun kissed and rosy, healthy skin look, but refrain yourself from over applying them.
If you decide to contour, make sure to blend it properly so you do not create harsh shadows on your face. This may be painful to some of you, but do not over apply your highlighter.
We get it, you want to shine, but too much highlighter can have an opposite effect of what you want to accomplish. Go for the au naturel cheek look for maximum elegance.
Bonus: Keep Everything Balanced
Here is a small tip to keep in mind. If you decide to play up your eyes, keep your lips simple. If you are going for a bold red lip, keep your eye and cheek simple.
